Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
FluxChat is built local-first. This policy explains what data the FluxChat desktop application and this website handle, and the choices you have. It is written in plain language and is not a substitute for legal advice.
1. The short version
- The desktop app runs on your machine. Your conversations, local models, and any API keys you add stay on your device.
- We do not collect your chat content from the free desktop tier.
- Optional Cloud features (managed inference, backup, and sync) are not yet available and are strictly opt-in when they launch.
- Creating an account stores only what's needed to identify you — primarily your email address.
2. Information we handle
Desktop application
The app processes your prompts and model responses locally. When you choose to use a third-party provider with your own API key, your prompts are sent directly to that provider under their terms; we do not proxy or store that traffic on the free tier.
Account information
If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication credentials (passwords are stored only in hashed form). We use this to sign you in and to contact you about your account and product updates such as Cloud availability.
Website
This website is served as static files. It does not embed third-party advertising or cross-site tracking scripts. Standard server logs may record basic request metadata (such as IP address and user agent) for security and reliability.
3. API keys and local models
Any provider API keys you enter live in your local configuration on your own device. They are not transmitted to us. Local model files you download remain on your disk and are never uploaded.
4. Cloud features (coming soon)
When the optional Cloud tier launches, it will offer managed inference and conversation backup/sync. Those features require sending the relevant data to our servers and will be clearly opt-in. We will update this policy with specifics before Cloud becomes available.
5. How we use information
- To provide and secure your account.
- To respond to support requests.
- To send essential service and product update emails. You can opt out of non-essential email at any time.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate (such as email delivery and hosting), and only as needed to provide the service, or where required by law.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect account data, including encryption in transit and hashed credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping inference local by default means the most sensitive data — your conversations — need never leave your machine.
8. Your choices
- Use the app fully offline with no account at all.
- Delete your account to remove the personal information associated with it.
- Manage local data directly on your device at any time.
9. Children
FluxChat is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated to account holders.
